Many museums and other cultural heritage institutions in Sweden work with questions concerning participation and intercultural dialogue. A lot of them work with the program SFI (Swedish for immigrants) and it seems that cultural heritage institutions have a great potential to enhance the effects of their work. In cooperation with Riksförbundet Sveriges Museer (RSM), Statens Maritima Museer, Malmö Museer and all the museums that are members of RSM, we conduct a study that explores and investigates the Swedish museums’ engagement in these activities.
The study includes research on the outreach, structure, methods and results of the education given within SFI but also mapping other innovative initiatives. The project’s objectives are to help the museums develope their work and to create at national overview that RSM can use in discussions with national representatives, museum members and municipalities.
The project’s full name is Intercultural Dialogue at Swedish Museums.
